Donations that have roots
The Zanza Blue team is well traveled and with our world experiences we appreciate every personal benefit. Many Zanza Travel Concierges have roots with each of these organizations and knows every dollar is well spent. when you book with Zanza we in turn donate to one of these three worthy causes, every cause explains the Zanza Relationship.

Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas
The Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas is focused toward the end result of all domestic animals in Cabo San Lucas having a safe and loving home. Along with this goal comes many side benefits, such as safe streets to walk at night without encountering packs of roaming dogs and above all streets free of contamination creating a cleaner more sanitary environment for everyone be they two legged or four legged. During her time as a crew member concierge Maggie Kaufmann would forgo the beach to help less fortunate four legged friends at the Cabo Humane society. The Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas works tirelessly in an environment were stray animals are a way of life.

Childrens Orphanage

The Majken Broby Children's Home was established in 1981, and is named in the memory of the late Ms. Majken Broby, a Swiss national who contributed time and resources to get the orphanage off the ground. Since it was established, some 100 children have benefited from an environment in which the health, safety and general welfare of the resident children receive substantial focus. Most of the residents come from broken homes, or homes in which the parents simply lack the resources to raise and support their children.Want ro learn more - Donate More
You may not know it but the bed you slept on during your last cruise may be one now used at this orphanage. Crew members of many cruise lines and ships have donated personal items, ship items and of course time to make life a little better for these children. With many Zanza concierges helping the orphange while working as crew members it's only natural for Zanza to support this worthy cause.

Donkey Sanctuary, Portugal

The Donkey Sanctuary is situated on a farm called Quinta de Santo João in Estômbar and the premises are owned by Peter Lander and Nan Richardson (both British). Indra Müller (Germany) en Nora Bakker (The Netherlands), are the two permanent employees in the sanctuary. Nora is already working here for years and years.

The dogs in the sanctuary are taken care of, in a maximum way with minimum resources. Not too far from Estômbar, two charity shops are the main resource for the sanctuary. Monthly costs for the donkey- and dog food, electricity, petrol etc. are on average € 5.000,00. As it is not allowed to build permanent quarters for the dogs, they have to spend the night in fibreglass Dog dens. One dog den costs about € 100,-. And there are still not enough dog dens!

The sanctuary hosts about 20 donkeys, 5 mules, 1 horse and about 94 dogs. All dogs are neutered or spayed. The Sanctuary’s goal is to home as many dogs as possible in Portugal itself. The Portuguese do not take puppies older then 3 or 4 months, so older dogs sometimes fly to Germany or Holland as they have a better chance of adoption over there.

In a few cases older dogs are selected to leave to the North as well. As donkeys rarely find a new home they regularly spend the rest of there lives at the Refúgio dos Burros. With the Financial Adoption Project we strive to provide the Sanctuary with adequate financial support. We can only succeed with your help. .Want ro learn more - Donate More

(The above wording is provided by a european website were Organisation is spelled properly). In many countries the donkey is similar to the family car or minivan, unfortunately many of these animals are treated in the same manner when they breakdown, left for the junkyard at the side of the road. One of our concierge's mother has moved from Canada to Portugal and helps these animals daily. When you think of charities a donkey may not come to mind but if you have ever spent some time with on of these animals you can understand they are as lovable as the family dog and deserve the same treatment.
